BBVs and STIs Workshop

This training aims to create awareness and increase knowledge on blood borne viruses (BBV) and sexually transmitted infections (STI)


About: People living with BBVs have long faced stigma and discrimination at many levels of society. This training aims to create awareness and provide up to date information on BBVs and STIs to help reduce the stigma associated with these viruses. By the end of this session, participants will have a greater understanding on BBVs and STIs and be able to better support people affected both in the workplace and in their community


What we cover:

  • Defining BBV’s and STIs’s including; HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C along with Chlamydia, Syphilis and Gonorrhea.
  • Infection, modes of transmission, symptoms, testing, treatment and prevention
  • Addressing stigma and discrimination facing people living with BBVs
  • Developing best practice methods of working with people living with BBVs and understanding guidelines and legislation surrounding BBVs
  • Your role in being an ally for people living with BBV both in the workplace and in your community


Audience:

  • This training is tailored and custom built to individual organisations, workplaces and communities who are interested in increasing their knowledge on blood borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections
  • Session plan is delivered over 2 hours, however, we can provide tailored short and intensive sessions on request.
  • Our sessions are flexible, and we will work with you to deliver this training in a format at suits your organisation


Locations: Alice Springs & Darwin.

By arrangement in other regions – Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Tennant Creek.
