Alice Springs - International AIDS Candlelight Memorial

When?

Sunday 20th of May
5:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Where?

Monte's Lounge - Crn Todd Street and Stott Terrace, Alice Springs

Every year we hold an event to acknowledge this day and to provide a safe space for people living with HIV, their friends, family and supporters to remember those we’ve lost to HIV/AIDS and reflect on the work still to be done in combating the AIDS pandemic.

The Alice Springs 2018 International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is being held on Sunday May 20 this year at Monte's Lounge from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

All are welcome to attend, with refreshments provided, DIY Candle making by donation, live music, a short film screening and guest speakers rounding out the evening.

The theme this year "reflecting on our past, preparing for our future"

The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial reminds us of the tremendous impact that HIV/AIDS movement has had on our lives. The Memorial emphasises the need for people living with, and affected by, HIV to join hands, reflect on the past and honour the precious lives that have been lost.  The Memorial also calls on us to share our stories of challenge, perseverance, and triumph to educate the current and next generations about what the AIDS movement has achieved over the last three decades. Finally, the Memorial asks us to work together, now more than ever, to sustain, strengthen and revitalise the global response to HIV.

We hope you can join us for this special candle lit evening.
