IDAHOBIT 2020 - NORTHERN TERRITORY
This year International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia on 17 May falls on the same day as the International AIDS Candle Light Memorial (3rd Sunday in May).
We felt it was important to mention two of our significant days coincide this year. As we aren't able to produce events for the community in the great out doors, we are encouraging you all to mark this day your own way.
30 years ago, on May 17, 1990, the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). IDAHOBIT (or IDAHO as it was known then) was borne from that day in 2004 and has continued to grow and thrive into a powerful recognition that sexual and gender diversity will not be ignored.
This year, we are “Breaking the Silence”. The lives, loves and stories need a voice to break them free from the trauma of current and previous lived experiences. Non-heterosexual orientations and diverse gender identities are still illegal in many countries around the world, and it’s our duty to show our support and our solidarity. Together we can make a difference.
So, let’s be heard!
NTAHC have Pride Packs and Candle Jars for both these events - please fill out your contact info to be sent one via Australia Post via this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RJTRYGT or email firstname.lastname@example.org
