International Drug Users Day - Alice Springs stall
Join NTAHC Alice Springs on Thursday 29 October at 11am to 1pm at Alice Plaza, speak to our team at our community information stall.
International Drug Users Day (IDUD) began as a protest movement against the lack of treatments & services for People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) in Holland. The Dutch Government and service providers were also invited. Discussions were held about the lack of services, what services PWUD actually needed, treatment options, pharmacotherapy, counselling and other services. The Dutch Government listened and developed ways to assist PWUD.
IDUD is now a global day of action, when each year PWUD and service providers meet to increase and improve services for PWUD.
The Northern Territory AIDS & Hepatitis Council (NTAHC) actively and annually promote the observation of International Drug Users day by providing the broader community access and opportunities for engagement and community enquiry regarding the harm reduction & health risks, support services and general community information.
