Could I Have a Sexually Transmitted Infection?

Both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory have some of the highest rates of STI's in Australia. Anyone can get an STI at any age but they are most common in people aged 15 – 29 years and people living in remote locations. The most common STI's and BBV's that are high in the Northern Territory and at high rates in the Aboriginal population are:

  • Gonorrhoea
  • Chlamydia
  • Trichomoniasis
  • Syphilis
  • Hepatitis B
