Trans 101 Workshop

This training is designed to assist clinicians in providing gender affirming care for trans (binary and non-binary) clients.

Trans 101 Workshop

Trans people often face personal and institutional stigma, transphobia, and discrimination in society. Despite significant progress being made over recent times, access to appropriate health care services remains a significant issue. This session will guide clinicians through the various modes of gender affirmation, and ultimately participants will develop a greater understanding of the needs of trans people in the healthcare setting.

What we cover:

  • The modalities of gender affirmation
  • Develop knowledge on the psychosocial influences on mental health and gender dysphoria
  • Criteria for gender affirming care
  • Your role in supporting and accepting the experiences of trans people
  • A guide to legislation that affects trans people in the NT

Audience:

Clinicians who have trans clients and those wanting to gain or further their existing knowledge in the best ways to support trans people in their practice.

Locations: Alice Springs & Darwin.

For training needs, we can come to you across the NT if budget permits or we can arrange a session in Darwin City.
