World AIDS Day on 1 December brings together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic.
World AIDS Day, also known as Red Ribbon Day, falls on 1 December. The red ribbon serves as a symbol of our empathy towards individuals who we have lost to HIV, those currently living with HIV, and our commitment to stamping out the social stigma associated with it.
This year, Australia has chosen the theme "Inclusion. Respect. Equity." which signifies the importance of embracing everyone, showing dignity, and ensuring fairness for all.
On World AIDS Day, show your respect and support by wearing a red ribbon. By doing so, you can contribute towards the ongoing work of the NT AIDS and Hepatitis Council (NTAHC) as all donations received from the sale of these red ribbons go back to NTAHC.
This year, NTAHC has teamed up with a local business called The Wicked Collective to bring you a special collaboration. They have created limited edition handmade ribbon earrings and lapel pins. These unique items will be available for purchase exclusively at NTAHC in Darwin and Alice Springs, and from the Wicked Collective Etsy store. Starting from 15 November. Please note that only electronic payment options will be accepted.
By wearing the red ribbon and supporting this collaboration, you not only raise awareness but also contribute towards the important work carried out by NTAHC.
