Held annually on 9 March National Day Of Women Living With HIV Each year, on March 9 , the National Network of Women Living with HIV celebrate the lives of women with HIV in Australia. We use this day to educate the wider community that HIV does affect women in Australia; and to speak to our network about issues of importance. Contact Women's Care and Support for more information info@ntahc.org.au Resource - https://www.womenlivingwell.org.au/ WATCH OUR VIDEO BELOW During the 7th National Day of Women Living with HIV in 2022, our focus centered on the concept of 'Living Well' for women who are HIV positive. We reached out to women within the community to share words of encouragement and support for their fellow women living with HIV. The outpouring of love, support, and care we received was truly touching and exemplified the solidarity among women in navigating life's challenges. These affirmations, penned on post-it notes and attached to a red ribbon, symbolized the allies we have across our community. While there is still progress to be made, it's heartening to witness the unwavering support as we move forward together. #NTAHC #womenlivingwell #ndwlhiv

MEDIA RELEASE 10 th July 2025 New Sexual Health and Relationships Program launched in Darwin and Katherine We are excited to announce that Northern Territory AIDS and Hepatitis Council (NTAHC) has established a new Sexual Health and Relationships Program, in partnership with the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), and headspace centres in Darwin, and Katherine. Funded until 30 June 2026, the program has been commissioned by Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NT PHN) with funding from the Australian Government’s Department of Health, Disability and Ageing Supporting Recovery pilot program. The program will trial a new model of care and support in response to the Northern Territories' disproportionally high rates of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and experiences of family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV) in young people. NTAHC Executive Director, Genevieve Dally, said: “This is an exciting partner initiative that will address major gaps in sexual health and FDSV health services for young people and other marginalised communities in the Top End. “The co-design and co-development feature of the program means the model is led by young people and peers from other priority populations and will result in meaningful engagement that will have a real impact. “Wrap around health services that incorporate comprehensive sexual health education delivered where young people congregate is the key to improving wellbeing outcomes and this program has the capacity to deliver this though a responsive and innovate model of care.” NT PHN Acting Chief Executive Officer, Jessica Dooley, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this very important program with NTAHC, SARC and headspace. “Sexual health and respectful relationships are foundational to the overall wellbeing of individuals and communities. Through the commissioning of the program, NT PHN is supporting a culturally safe, inclusive and evidence-based approach that empowers Territorians aged 12-25 to make informed, healthy choices. This program reflects our ongoing commitment to improving primary healthcare equity across the Northern Territory by investing in education, early intervention and strong community partnerships.” Delivering free, confidential drop-in clinics at headspace centres in Darwin and Katherine, and the new NTAHC clinic space in the Darwin CBD, the clinics will be serviced by a team of nurses, counsellors, Aboriginal health practitioners and peer support workers providing young people aged 12-25 with access to high-quality support on relationship and sexual health needs, screening for FDSV and STI testing. These wrap-around clinics will ensure that those accessing services will receive non-judgmental care in a safe space. Clients will be supported through to appropriate referral pathways that meet their unique needs and help them in their ongoing healing and recovery journey. In addition to the drop-in clinics, the Sexual Health and Relationships Program will focus on building connections with schools, sports clubs and other places attended by young people and families to provide community education and early intervention support about healthy relationships and FDSV more broadly. Delivery of this program will be commencing soon in headspace Darwin and headspace Katherine while the NTAHC city clinic will commence program delivery later in the year. For media enquiries, interviews or further information about the program, please contact: Grayson Javins Program Coordinator, NTAHC 08 8944 7777 thespot@ntahc.org.au

Sex workers wish to thank the Northern Territory Labor Government for their continual work in ensuring that comprehensive consultation has been conducted throughout a very long and careful process to achieve the best possible amendments to protect Territorians, and ultimately fully modernise The Northern Territory Anti-Discrimination Act 1992. “Importantly, the NT Government has consulted with the most marginalised groups to ensure coverage was provided through inclusive and appropriate attributes. Like other marginalised communities, sex workers require equitable law reform which recognises the pervasive and unique effect that sex work stigma has on our lives, health, safety, and standing in the community,” says Sex Worker Reference Group member and Scarlet Alliance - Australian Sex Workers Association Vice President, Sienna Charles. 𝗦𝗲𝘅 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 Member Willow Beth states, “Sex workers experience widespread and pervasive stigma and discrimination in every facet of our lives, with devastating impacts on our safety, housing and accommodation, financial stability, mental health and wellbeing and with limited avenues for redress. Crucially, today's reforms provide an opportunity for sex workers to seek redress when experiencing discrimination and sends a message to the community that discrimination against sex workers and our work is unacceptable.” By protecting sex workers and our work within the NT Anti-Discrimination Act 2022, the Labor government has ensured the realisation of the Objects of the Sex Industry Act 2019 in recognising sex work as a legitimate form of work that needs to be regulated through standard business, Work Health & Safety, and other industrial protections to safeguard sex worker’s safety and rights. Scarlet Alliance Australian Sex Workers Association, the Sex Worker Outreach Program (SWOP NT) and the Sex Worker Reference Group (SWRG) provided comprehensive evidence and case studies that demonstrated systemic discrimination against sex workers and our work, throughout the Northern Territory Government’s extensive consultation processes. “We would like to thank the NT Labor Government, and in particular, through the duration of our advocacy to the Ministers who have held the position of the Attorney General; Chief Minister, Honourable Natasha Fyles , Honourable Selena Uibo: , and to the current Attorney General Honourable Chansey Paech: for listening to us and hearing our issues and concerns throughout the process of achieving protections for sex workers who work in the NT,” says SWOP NT Coordinator, Leanne Melling. CEO of Scarlet Alliance, Jules Kim says, “This is a momentous day for all sex workers and sets a positive example that sex workers are valued members of the community, deserving of rights and protections against vilification and discrimination with recourse to access justice through the passing of this Bill. These critical reforms will continue to demonstrate the importance of best practice partnerships between sex workers and the government and will hopefully inspire similar campaigns for robust anti-discrimination protections for sex work and sex workers and decriminalisation of sex work reforms in other states and territories throughout Australia.” Rainbow Territory Unions NT Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations (AFAO) NAPWHA Hepatitis Australia Northern Territory Council of Social Service #NTAHC #SWOPNT #SWRG #ScarletAlliance #AntiDiscriminationCommission
